Positive Education brings together a focus on academics and character strengths combined with well-being. Positive Education = Academics + Character Strengths x Well-being

Positive Education harnesses:

  • The science of positive psychology research e.g. flow, engagement

  • Positive emotions

  • Resilience skills

  • Skills for using grit

  • Academic care and teaching, learning and assessment practices

  • Mindfulness

Positive Education Aims:

  • Inspire children and young people, staff and schools as organisations to thrive and be the best that they can be

  • Enable young people and staff in schools to develop skills to not only protect their health and well-being, but to flourish

  • Facilitate self-awareness and self-regulation through mindfulness and knowing, understanding and enjoying ones signature character strengths as well as applying concepts such as flow

  • Promotes a positive mind-set, positive engagement, positive relationships, resilience for relationships and academic pursuit together with developing the grit and persistence needed to achieve in a range of situations

  • Emotional intelligence and emotional literacy skills enables character strengths to be used in the right way and at the right time

PEP draws on positive education to enable people to express themselves, to use their imagination and literacy skills and to think critically about issues through approaches embedded within and beyond the syllabus.
